The Ultimate Humvee Upgrade. Project Kitty-V

The Humvee (M1123)will be equipped with a 2023 Hellcat/TRX engine, transmission, and transfer case, all with less than 10,000 miles of usage. The engine will undergo modifications, including the installation of new injectors, a standalone ECU, tuning, and various upgrades to enhance its performance significantly. System enhancements will include a custom-built computer system designed to monitor and manage operations and related data efficiently.

The Project is to build the first in the US Hell Cat based Humvee. We will be converting a 2005 AMGM M1123 unit from 6.5 Detroit Diesel to 6.2l Hellcat/TRX system.

What makes this project unique?

There are currently three Hellcat Humvees, all heavily modified for performance or looks, sacrificing original benefits. This project will preserve the Humvee's off-roading and towing capabilities. Ram Hellcat/TRX vehicles weigh 4 to 6.5 tons, while the Kitty-V will be around 2.2 tons. The stock Humvee engine has 160 BHP, compared to the base Hellcat's 707 BHP, with the Kitty-V expected to reach 950 BHP. Power ratios are: Humvee—36 lbs/BHP, Hellcat/TRX—11.3 lbs/BHP, Kitty-V—under 5 lbs/BHP.

This will be the only drive-train swapped, body unmodified Hell Cat Humvee

This project, we will be keeping the features that make the Humvee valuable, the off-roading and towing capability.

Hellcat/TRX setup Ram vehicles weight about 4 tons to 6.5 tons.
The kitty-V will weigh in at about 2.2 tons. Currently the engine output in the Humvees with stock engines is 160 BHP, the base
Hellcat engine is 707 BHP. Kitty-V is projected to be 850.

Humvees ratios are about 36lbs per BHP. Hellcat/TRX are about 11.3lbs per BHP (starting). Kitty-V will be under 5lbs per BHP.

Kitty-V is slated to be used in local movie shoots, with credits list by sponsor.

Some might ask whynot simply do an LS swap or replace it with another engine. While that might bethe easier route, it isn't always the best or most enjoyable. This project isalso a tribute to my son, Stephen P Quigley, who would have loved and been deeply involved in it. He was passionate about tackling projects that others deemed impossibleor impractical, proving that they could be done.

Building a Humvee with a Hellcat engine is about more than just the mechanics; it's about doing it right and showcasing American ingenuity. The goal of this project is to convert the vehicle to a Hemi engine while maintaining the full functionality of the engine and components, including the 4x4/all-wheel drive capability. This endeavor presents numerous challenges in terms of interfacing, mounting, and additional work, but it is achievable.

The intent is to build this vehicle while preserving as much of the original Humvee's electronics as possible, integrating the necessary parts from a Hellcat engine taken from a 2023 TRX 1500 Ram. There are other similar builds on the market, but in my opinion, they have compromised the integrity of the original Humvee by stripping down its systems and rebuilding the frame to fit the Hellcat engine. This project aims to avoid such compromises and create a more authentic and functional vehicle.
